VERY R
are antique carved wood Mauchline Ware lithograph advertising darning egg case measuring about 3" in size. Designed as a needle dispenser, egg is decorated with advertising in Spanish - one side depicts a detailed image of the ship (SANTA MARIA) and CALIDAD 87656 (Quality) on the egg top edge.
I believe this was designed to commemorate the landing of the Santa Maria - it is stamped MADE IN GERMANY on the bottom edge - when egg is opened and bottom and the egg end is compressed, the needle dispenser pops up as shown - it is incrementally numbered with instructions to "Place the stroke parallel with the number required". Complete with patent number on the inside arm end!
Best condition I've seen, I doubt you will find another in this nice of shape. Pictures show true condition and I did the best I could to get every angle.
These are very rare especially in this condition. Nothing broken, no cracks, no hairline, no repairs, 100% original. This has sat for 60+ years in a cedar chest until I took it out recently, so humidity/kids haven't gotten to ruin this survivor.
Look around and look hard, you aren't going to find another of these in this good of shape, I have been searching for over a week and it's hard to find much at all about these, made in 1893 it is 128 years old. If I wasn't buying a house I wouldn't be selling this awesome piece.
This will be well packaged, insured for the total price, and signature required at delivery by an adult to ensure you get this super nice find.
I will ship next business day of payment being made via Fedex ground, faster shipping is available for an additional charge. I can also ship to a PO Box via USPS just contact me and I will make changes, I just prefer Fedex for pricey stuff.
Feel free to have a gander at my other wares I sell all sorts of stuff and also I have 100% positive feedback as a seller. I can also take credit card payments over the phone and would give a discount if you prefer to pay that way as my rates are cheaper for credit card acceptance that way than through ebay's payment system.
Pickup in person is very welcomed but in that case I will not accept online payments, cash only if you are picking up in person.
Any questions please ask before buying.
Thanks for looking!
