Antique Tunbridge Ware Thread Waxer<br>English * Circa 1880<br>This little antique piece was made in Tunbridge Wells in the county of Kent, England in the Victorian era. It's in the form of a barrel and unscrews to reveal a piece<br>of beeswax for strengthening sewing thread.<br>This style of waxer had the advantage of not getting wax on other items in the work basket.<br>Both ends have a mosaic star<br>pattern created using pieces of different naturally colored woods.<br>The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or loss and it screws together well. It measures 1 1/4" high and 7/8" in diameter.
