Antique Gilded Silver Stiletto / Awl<br>French * Circa 1850<br>The handle of this lobed gilded silver awl is beautifully shaped and embossed with little scrolled designs on both sides.<br>It's solid silver that has been gilded with gold. It has no marks but is definately French and tests<br>800/1000 pure silver.<br>The shank is steel with a turned top and a sharp point<br>.<br>The silver is in excellent condition with no dents or other damage and it measures 2 7/8" long. These pieces are most often seen as part of French sets in wedge shaped cases.
